What is a registered support organization?

A registered support organization is an organization that is commissioned by a company to accept a foreigner and prepares and implements a support plan for the stable and smooth operation of a foreigner with a specified technical skill 1. The company or organization that accepts the specified skilled foreigner for employment is called a specified skilled foreigner affiliated organization, and must provide support for the workplace, daily life, and social activities of the specified skilled foreigner.

Support for the specified skilled foreign nationals requires specialized knowledge in documentation, etc., and it is sometimes difficult for the specified skilled foreign nationals to receive such support on their own. Therefore, registered support organizations are commissioned by organizations affiliated with specified skilled workers to prepare and implement support plans for specified skilled foreigners on their behalf.

Obligations of Registered Support Agencies

Registered support organizations are obliged to

(1) Provide foreigners with guidance on daily life prior to their arrival in Japan.
The guidance must be provided in a language that the foreigner can understand.
(2) To meet the foreigner at the airport upon his/her arrival in Japan and see him/her off at the airport upon his/her return to Japan.
(3) Provide guarantors for foreign nationals and other support to secure housing for foreign nationals.
(4) Provide orientation for foreigners on daily life during their stay in Japan.

*To be conducted in a language that the foreigner can understand.
(5) Provide support for foreigners to learn Japanese language for their daily life. -Foreigners must be able to understand Japanese.
(6) Respond to consultations and complaints from foreign residents.
* Provide consultation and complaint services for foreigners in languages that foreigners can understand.
(7) Provide information and support for various administrative procedures that foreign residents must complete.
* Provide information and support for various administrative procedures that foreign nationals are required to follow, in languages that foreign nationals can understand.
(8) Provide support for the promotion of exchange between foreign nationals and Japanese nationals.
(9) Provide support to enable foreign nationals to engage in activities based on the status of residence of “specified skilled worker 1” based on a specified skilled employment contract with another Japanese organization in the event that the specified skilled employment contract is terminated through no fault of their own.
(10) Conduct periodic interviews with foreign nationals and notify administrative agencies.
